Prizes and Honours 2014

Levure littéraire, a multilingual and multidisciplinary webmagazine read in 174 countries, is planning to award annual honorary prizes.

Why honorary prizes?

To build links with the culture of the world and more specifically, with the culture of books and the sharing of this culture with the disciplines and arts that support it.

Following up on the talent shown by collaborators in two issues in 2014, the Levure littéraire prizes and honours will recognize excellence in a cultural domain: literature (poetry, story, theatre, criticism, interviews, magazines, literary blogs), visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography), music (classical, modern), sociology, psychology and psychoanalysis.

The awarding of the prizes will be decided by the votes of an international jury made up of our own editors and publishers, and by the choices of our readers (a forum will be opened so that lovers of literature and art can post their choices/nominations online).

These prizes will not be called Goncourt, nor Renaudot, nor Femina, nor Pulitzer, nor National Poetry Competition, nor Deutscher Buchpreis, nor Georg-Büchner Preis, nor M. Eminescu, nor Nobel nor T.S. Eliot Prize.

Our prizes will only be a red band symbolizing the choice of an elite jury, they will symbolize the modest but high-quality recognition by a very numerous reading public, which has been following us since 2010, when Levure littéraire was founded. These honours will provide excellent opportunities for our authors, publishers and fans. They will offer quite promising guarantees of promotional prospects for our prizing winners throughout the year 2015.

With the LL prizes, we have no hopes of miraculously increasing sales numbers, or dazzling ministries of culture and mass media snobs, since we can’t afford to give out golden or silver laurels or other material awards.

Levure littéraire will seek out among our sponsors and partners the means to invite our prize-winners to read, to present and to share their artistic creations in French, German and American cultural institutions. Other prize-winning authors will be able to publish with foreign publishers with which we have joint projects.
