Butterfly Nebula (Apotheosis) Oil on Canvas, 72″ x 96″inches

THIS WORK FORMS THE APOTHEOSIS OF THE ‘BUTTERFLY NEBULA’ SERIES. ITS THE FUSION OF MULTIPLE THEMES THAT HAVE EVOLVED THROUGHOUT THE CREATION OF THE CYCLE OF WORK.

DERIVED FROM AN ARRAY OF IMPULSES THAT SPAN MYTH, MYSTICISM & METAPHYSICS, THE WORK REPRESENTS AN ASPIRATIONAL STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS, TRANSFORMATIVE AND TRANSCENDING AS ASCRIBED TO THE POETIC REALITIES THAT INSPIRED THE GENESIS OF THE ART WORK.

Mourning Cloak Rapture, Oil on canvas, 30″ x 40″ inches

The Genesis of this painting is formed from multi-dimensional inspirational impulses that converged during the evolution of the work. Following my painting of the ‘Butterfly Nebula’ (Apotheosis) I felt an emotional surge of a draped figure floating in space that naturally assumed the flutter and shape of a butterfly. Within the peripheral reality of observation the ‘Mourning Cloak Butterfly’ entered my vision and placed its resonant glory to the painting in color and symbol. Wim Wender’s Film on Pina Bausch also seemed to ignite a metaphoric flux and allegory of fusion found in the themes of the sacred feminine/masculine paradigm shifts that announced a Celestial force of intention and expressive modality, as reflected by the fleur de Lys motif on the drapery of the male Sun figure in adoration of the female lunar goddess whose garb is embellished with crescent moons. The female figure displays the Kathleen McGowan ring on her left hand, placed to honor a deeply profound emotional unity present within the labyrinth of emotional raptures and spirals flowing amid transcendental thermals attuned to inter-dimensional poetics and frequency.

Rose Nebula Labyrinth (Venus Transit), Oil on canvas. 30″ x 40″ inches

The Rose Nebula Labyrinth compliments the painting the Butterfly Nebula reflecting the natural evolution of the Nebula picture cycle. The figures that were revealed to each other in the Butterfly Nebula now converge in sacred union enacting the ‘herios gamos’. The scared male/female mytho-dynamism takes shape within the matrix of the rose the symbol for Venus. The doves also symbols associated with the Venus cult balance the pictorial energy as the gold and silver lines of the labyrinth trace the contours of the bodies to form the six petal rose which lies at the heart of the rose, in essence the rose within the rose.

The painting coinciding with the astronomical phenomena of the Venus Transit depicted in the lower left, is balanced by the orbit of the planet Venus around the Sun top right of the picture.

Merkaba Helix, oil on canvas, 20″ x 20″ inches

This painting was inspired by the August Perseid Meteor Shower 2013, witnessed in Joshua Tree, California. Being part of the Contact in The Desert event, a MerKaBa Meditation was presented during the star gazing, manifesting a Star Tetrahedron within the conscious state of observation seen at the heart of the painting and echoed in the shape around the figures. Within the flowing drapery the astro symbols of the Sun and Earth have been ascribed suggesting the sacred male female paradigm of awareness imagined by the poetic metaphysics of the shooting stars. The counter balance of the ascendant female form whose hair has the DNA helix weave, juxtaposed by the male cascade with golden beams, alludes to the formation of the tetrahedron mediation matrix. The Mer (Light) Ka (Spirit) Ba (Body) adds to my ongoing explorations of Celestial bodies as expressive portals of being

       The Catch

The Catch (Osprey After Audubon), oil on canvas, 48″ x 36″ inches

‘THE CATCH’  WAS INSPIRED BY THE WATERCOLOUR OF AN OSPREY BY THE GREAT BIRD ARTIST AUDUBON.

Crane (Whirling Dervishes), oil on canvas, 48″ x 36″ inches

THE ‘CRANE’ REFLECTS THE SPIRITUAL DIMENSIONS EVOKED BY THE MYSTICISM OF THE WHIRLING DERVISHES…..FLIGHT SEEN AS METAPHOR FOR TRANSCENDENTAL EXPLORATION OF THE SOUL.

THE POWER SYBOLISM FOUND IN EASTERN ESOTERICS OF THE CRANE SUGGESTS A MULTI-VERSE WITHIN THE COSMIC CELESTIAL PARADIGM. THE SUFI REFERENCES FURTHER ENHANCE THE ‘LOVE HEAT’, AS EXPRESSED IN THE POETRY OF RUMI AND THE MUSIC OF MERCAN DEDE (THE CONTEMPORARY TURKISH MUSICIAN ) WHICH FUSED TO INSPIRE THIS WORK.

Nazim is a fine artist using traditional working methods to create art.

Drawing and painting are the fundamental elements to the realization of his artistic vision,
inspired by an array of themes that vary according to the temperament and compulsion
to create the artwork.

Myth, mysticism and metaphysics resonate within the subject matter,
exploring the visual harmonics which the artist may observe or imagine.

Nazim is a fine artist of over 30 years using traditional methods to create art. Drawing and painting form the basis of his practice in the pursuit of realizing his artistic vision. The multi-various themes explored in his art are derived from observations made to stimulate the imagination. His subject matter includes responses to nature, the human figure, sport, performing arts, poetry, and mythology. Many of the animals depicted in his work seem to embody a human essence, derived somewhat from the shamanism of Native American and Turkic tribes. As an artist, Nazim is constantly exploring the museums and galleries on two continents, noting and studying the old Masters, such as Michelangelo, Rubens, Caravaggio, Rodin, as well as the modern greats like Degas or Winslow Homer. Being a trans-Atlantic cultural commuter, Nazim gains access to the British Museum and National Gallery in London, the Metropolitan Museum and MOMA in New York City, the Getty and LACMA in Los Angeles, and The Louvre and Muse Rodin in Paris. The numerous solo and group shows Nazim has had in London and the USA have allowed collectors to acquire unique works of art by this original artist. Among the many commissions Nazim has had, the work created for the eminent actor, playwright, and director, Steven Berkoff, and actress and leading holistic author, Celeste Yarnall, has been outstanding.
